Travelling

to Belgrade

Here you can find helpful tips for your trip to Belgrade.

Flying to Belgrade

The Nikola Tesla Airport (BEG) in Belgrade can be reached from many German and European airports.

We usually fly from Karlsruhe / Baden-Baden (FKB) to Nikola Tesla Airport (BEG) with the airline Wizz Air. The flights for June 2025 are expected to be activated from July 2024. At the moment you can fly on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Since the wedding on the 7th June 2025 is a Saturday (see Planned schedule for the 7th June 2025), you could even arrive the day before, on Friday, and leave again on Monday, which is a bank holiday in Germany. It is recommended to arrive at least one day earlier.

Transport from the airport to the hotel

To get to the hotel, we have had good experience with taxis.booking.com. A preliminary reservation is recommended. Currently, a trip from the airport to the Hilton Hotel costs 27.24 € for a maximum of 3 people and  3 suitcases and 30.93 € for a maximum of 4 people and 4 suitcases. This price includes the following:

  • Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the taxi ride
  • The driver will track the flight and wait for you in case of a delay
  • The driver will wait for you at the airport with a sign with your name and take you to the taxi
  • The drivers usually speak very good English

However, since we will be traveling by car, we can also help anyone who needs help!

Internet

Please note that you will not have EU roaming on your cell phones in Serbia. So switch off mobile data and roaming to avoid high charges. The best way to have internet on the go is with a Serbian SIM card. You can buy one cheaply at the airport, near the baggage claim. The staff are very helpful and will help you activate the SIM card straight away. Otherwise, there is free WiFi in almost all restaurants and shops.

Serbian currency

Serbian currency is dinar (RSD). Currently, 1€ is about 117 RSD - this has hardly changed in the past few years, so it can be assumed that this will also be the benchmark for 2025. In Serbia, there are exchange offices (Serb.: MENJAČNICA) on almost every corner. Before you change money, you should check what the exchange rate is. This can for example be done on the official website of the NBS (National Bank of Serbia). The differences between the individual exchange offices are usually minimal.
